On March 10, Counterpoint Research released a global mobile phone market statistics report for the fourth quarter of 2020, pointing out that in the Asian smartphone market in the fourth quarter of last year, vivo and Apple tied for first place in market share.
The report shows that vivo's market share in Asia has reached 15%, ranking first with Apple. Xiaomi, OPPO and Huawei ranked third to fifth, with market shares of 14%, 13% and 12% respectively. It is worth mentioning that Huawei's data in this statistics still includes Honor's mobile phone shipments.
Recently, Counterpoint Research released the latest report showing that OPPO topped the list of domestic market share in January 2021, becoming the number one Chinese smartphone brand. OPPO's market share in January reached 21%, followed by vivo 20%, Huawei, Apple and Xiaomi 16%. OPPO's monthly sales increased by 33% month-on-month and 26% year-on-year.
Counterpoint analysts said that OPPO's redesigned Reno series is lower priced and higher performing than its predecessor, capturing the mid-to-high-end market. The A series has strong momentum in the mid-range market and is able to meet China's 5G needs across a wide price range.
It is not difficult to see that with Huawei being subject to multiple sanctions by the United States, OPPO and vivo will compete for the top spot in the smartphone market in China and Asia.
