Sina Digital News reported on the morning of February 10 that Qualcomm released two modems, the Snapdragon X65 and X62. The Snapdragon X65 5G modem is the world's first 10Gbps 5G modem. Both products are currently being sampled to customers, and commercial terminals based on these two modems and RF solutions are expected to be available later in 2021.

The Snapdragon X65 5G modem and RF system is Qualcomm's fourth-generation 5G modem-to-antenna solution. It is the world's first modem and RF system that supports 10Gbps 5G speeds comparable to optical fiber. It is also the first modem and RF system that complies with 3GPP Release 16 specifications.

Key innovations in the flagship Snapdragon X65 5G Modem-RF System include:

The scalable architecture supports enhancement, expansion and customization across 5G market segments, and supports the rapid deployment of upcoming new features and functions, as well as new features of 3GPP Release 16 through software updates. In particular, as 5G expands to new vertical industries such as computing, industrial IoT and fixed wireless access, this scalable architecture can support the creation of future-oriented solutions based on Snapdragon X65 to support the adoption of new features, extend the terminal life cycle, and help reduce total cost of ownership.

The 4th generation Qualcomm 545 mmWave antenna module is designed to expand mobile mmWave network coverage and improve energy efficiency. The Qualcomm 545 mmWave antenna module is paired with the new Snapdragon X65 modem and RF system to support higher transmit power than previous generations, supporting all global mmWave bands including the new n259 (41GHz) band, while maintaining the same compact footprint as previous generations.

The world's first AI antenna tuning technology is the first step in bringing the company's more than a decade of groundbreaking AI research and development results into mobile RF systems, bringing significant improvements to cellular technology performance and energy efficiency. For example, compared with previous generation technologies, AI can achieve a 30% improvement in the accuracy of hand-held terminal detection. This improvement can bring enhanced antenna tuning capabilities, thereby increasing data transmission speeds, improving coverage, and extending battery life.

Next-generation power tracking solutions are smaller, more efficient and offer higher performance – delivering superior performance and cost-effectiveness compared to conventional power tracking technologies.

The most comprehensive spectrum aggregation, covering all major 5G bands and their combinations, including mmWave and Sub-6GHz bands, FDD and TDD, bringing operators ultimate flexibility by using fragmented 5G spectrum assets.

Qualcomm 5G PowerSave 2.0 is based on new power-saving technologies defined in 3GPP Release 16, such as the Connected-Mode Wake-Up Signal.

Qualcomm Smart Transmit 2.0 is a unique system-level technology licensed by Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., which can be used with the Snapdragon X65 modem and RF system. By leveraging system awareness capabilities from modem to antenna, it can bring higher upload rates and wider network coverage to millimeter wave and Sub-6GHz bands while continuing to meet RF transmission requirements.

Snapdragon X65 will support the next generation of top smartphones and support 5G expansion to PCs, mobile hotspots, industrial Internet of Things, fixed wireless access, and 5G enterprise private networks and other segments.

In addition, Qualcomm also launched the Snapdragon X62 5G modem and RF system, which is a 5G modem-to-antenna solution for mobile broadband applications that supports multi-gigabit download speeds.

Snapdragon X65 and Snapdragon X62 are currently sampling to customers, and commercial devices based on these two modem and RF solutions are expected to be available later in 2021.
