Sony first released the Xperia Pro in February last year, but the phone has never been released. Sony has officially launched the Xperia Pro in the United States today. This phone is Sony's first 5G phone in the US market, priced at $2,499.99 (about 16,168 yuan).
The high price means this phone isn't for everyone, and Sony is targeting professionals who can configure the phone's HDMI port to turn the device into a monitor for an external camera. In addition, 5G connectivity can be used to quickly upload or live stream video.
The Xperia Pro's hardware isn't that different from the Xperia 1 II, aside from an HDMI input and 5G support in the US, which launched with 4G only in the US and 5G support in Europe.
In terms of specifications, the Xperia Pro uses a 6.5-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 3840 x 1644. The device uses the older Snapdragon 865 processor and has a battery capacity of up to 4000mAh. On the back, the phone has 12-megapixel wide-angle, telephoto, and ultra-wide-angle cameras, as well as a TOF camera.
The HDMI input is on the bottom, while the USB-C port has been moved to the left to ensure the HDMI port is centered. Sony says it's capable of shooting up to 4K, 60fps HDR video streams and should work with any camera that has an HDMI output.
