Apple announced a new App Store Small Business Program in November that will be available to small business owners and independent developers, reducing App Store fees from the standard 30% to 15%. The program is set to launch on January 1, 2021, and starting today, eligible developers can sign up.

Apple has launched an App Store Small Business Program website with everything developers need to know, as well as tools to sign up. The program is open to all developers who have made less than $1 million in App Store revenue in the calendar year, which applies to 98% of developers, according to recent analytics data.

When the program was initially announced, Apple promised to provide more information to developers, and today it has released it via the App Store Small Business Program website, which will explain how it works and answer questions about eligibility, app deals, payments, and more.

The 15% fee applies to paid app purchases, in-app purchases, and subscription fees, and developers new to the App Store can also participate. Notably, today's information indicates that the $1 million total applies to linked developer accounts.

Apple says developers should submit registrations by 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time on December 18, 2020 to receive program benefits by January 1, 2021.
