In the official version of iOS 14, the biggest change introduced by Apple is to allow third-party applications to replace Safari and Apple Mail as the system's default browser and email processing applications. With the update of third-party software, the current alternatives to Safari include Chrome, Edge, Firefox and DuckDuckGo.
However, the reality is that every time a user makes the above-mentioned changes to third-party applications, a strange bug will appear after the device is restarted, which will restore these settings to Apple's default applications.
"We are aware of an issue that may impact default email and browser settings in iOS 14 and iPadOS 14. A fix is available as a software update," Apple said in a statement.
Until Apple fixes the issue, you should avoid shutting down or restarting your iPhone or iPad if you have set a third-party app as the default. Otherwise, you will have to set it up all over again.
Of course, if the device's battery dies, there's nothing you can do.
