IBM develops 2-nanometer chip [Copy link]

On May 7, 2021, IBM announced the development of a 2-nanometer chip. This invention has undoubtedly taken chip technology a big step forward.

According to Yang Fujia's "Atomic Physics", the diameter of an aluminum atom is estimated to be 0.33 nanometers, so 2 nanometers is six aluminum atoms.

Unbelievable.

I don’t know if quantum chips will be developed in the future, directly replacing binary with ternary chips, otherwise it will be difficult to reduce the manufacturing process.   Details Published on 2022-4-4 08:44

We also have to find TSMC for processing.

IBM has been silent for many years, and now it has exploded again.

If we continue to develop in the current way, electrons may not be enough and we will need photonic chips.

If the future is like the sci-fi scenes on TV, maybe there will be no need for electronic components.

Quantum chips are being researched, but their working principle is not "ternary replacing binary" but certain principles of quantum mechanics.  Details Published on 2022-4-4 10:19
