Chinese consumers are rushing to buy Huawei smartphones amid concerns that restrictions on Huawei's access to U.S. technology and chips will soon halt production of its high-end phones, Reuters reported.

Mobile phone sellers in Huaqiangbei, Shenzhen's electronics market, said that over the past month, the prices of new and second-hand Huawei phones have risen steadily, with an average increase of about 400 to 500 yuan. Among them, Huawei's flagship model Mate30 Porsche is priced at 14,000 yuan, while it was priced at 10,000 yuan in January this year, and the price on Taobao is also the same.

Another supplier said that consumers are increasingly concerned about the supply of components for new phones. Huawei's phones are getting more expensive, but this is due to supply and demand. However, some industry insiders said that the prices on Huawei's official website and large dealers remain stable, and this wave of price increases comes from the hoarding and speculation of small dealers.

Huawei does not disclose inventory information. A spokesman told Reuters that the company will continue to operate based on demand.

Previously, IDC analyst Will Wong said that Huawei's chip inventory may last until the first half of next year. One option to use Kirin chips longer is to reduce shipments for the rest of the year.

Earlier, Huawei Consumer Business CEO Yu Chengdong said at the 2020 China Information Technology Hundred People Summit that the new generation of Huawei Mate 40 will be released in September this year, equipped with the most advanced Huawei Kirin 5G chip. However, Huawei Mate 40 will become a "discontinued" machine equipped with high-end Kirin chips, because Kirin series chips will no longer be produced after September.
