Samsung Electronics said on Wednesday it plans to recruit 1,000 experts in chip design and artificial intelligence by the end of this year, The Korea Herald reported.
It is understood that Samsung has hired about 500 experts with master's and doctoral degrees in semiconductors and artificial intelligence in the first half of this year.
The report pointed out that as the COVID-19 epidemic continues to spread, trade disputes intensify, and uncertainty in the global business environment increases, Samsung plans to recruit more than 500 experts to accelerate the development of technology and business.
It is worth mentioning that Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong said on Tuesday while visiting equipment subsidiary SEMES, "It is difficult to know how this uncertainty in the current market will end, but if (Samsung) stops, there will be no future." Therefore, the Korean technology giant has never slowed down its pace.
In April 2019, Samsung announced a 133 trillion won investment plan to build system chip production infrastructure and hire 15,000 engineers. In 2018, Samsung also announced a 180 trillion won investment plan and identified AI, 5G and automotive semiconductors as the company's future flagship businesses.
