Recently, Francisco Jeronimo, vice president and analyst at IDC, announced on Twitter the sales statistics of Google Pixel phones in 2019. According to IDC data, Google sold 7.2 million Pixel phones in 2019, a year-on-year increase of 52%, the best sales performance in history.
Of course, this result is not surprising. In the past, Pixel phones were expensive and difficult to popularize. Last year, Google launched the affordable series Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL for the first time, lowering the entry threshold.
However, as time entered 2020, Google's Pixel 4 series did not continue this growth trend. According to previous news, Google only sold 2 million Pixel 4 devices in the first two quarters. In comparison, the sales of the Pixel 3 series were 3 million units, and the sales of Pixel 3a were 3 million units, and there was even a downward trend.
Google Pixel's chief imaging engineer Marc Levoy also left Google in March due to poor sales. There are even reports that Google will downgrade the Pixel 5 and equip it with the Snapdragon 765G instead of the previous flagship processor.
