Korean media: Huawei CC certification will be released in September, and is expected to be removed from the restricted trading list

Huawei is currently undergoing CC certification at the Spanish International Security Assessment Agency. The results will be released in September. According to Korean media Herald Economy, Huawei is currently undergoing CC certification by the Spanish government. It started security checks on 5G network equipment at the end of last month and will announce the results in September. Currently, CC certification is being conducted by the most authoritative Spanish E&E, which conducts comprehensive tests on the design, development, finished products, repairs, and maintenance of network equipment.

CC certification refers to the Common Criteria for Information Technology Security Assessment, which is specifically used to evaluate the stability and security of ICT products. It is also an indicator for many countries and public agencies to introduce related products.

Huawei's 5G equipment is undergoing Level 4 security verification, which is recognized by the industry as the highest level of security certification. Huawei has already obtained 5G equipment certification once and renews LTE equipment certification every year. James added that companies such as Nokia, Ericsson, and Samsung Electronics have never obtained CC certification. In addition to CC certification, Huawei has also obtained third-party certifications such as PCI, CSA, and E-Privacy.

The Herald pointed out that since CC certification is an international certification, even if CC certification is obtained in Europe, according to the intergovernmental agreement, 30 countries currently recognize the certification, including the United States, South Korea and other countries. Although Trump softened his attitude towards Huawei at the G20 summit, he still did not take any actual action. Huawei is still on the restricted trading list. Some industry insiders speculated that if Huawei obtains CC certification, it can use it to open the gate of the US restricted trading.
