SPE event heralds new dawn for Ethernet connectivity
Shanghai, China, August 9, 2024 - Farnell Newark, the global electronic components products and solutions distributor under Avnet, has brought together a group of industry elite suppliers to support a campaign aimed at promoting the multiple advantages of Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) solutions.
Sponsored by Amphenol, Analog Devices, Harting, Microchip, Molex, Phoenix, Weidmuller and Wurth Electronik, the event aims to inspire IIoT developers and industrial designers to switch to SPE products and protocols, which will not only promote innovation but also help them design more reliable products more easily and efficiently.
Ben Morgan, Head of Product Group SPE Connectors at element14, said: “We firmly believe that the future of industrial network connectivity lies in Single Pair Ethernet. IoT design engineers fully understand the current difficulties in balancing space constraints with growing data demands, but SPE is a compact, efficient technology that delivers full Ethernet performance over a single twisted pair cable.”
One of the many benefits of SPE is that it significantly reduces the need for bulky, complex wiring harnesses that waste valuable installation space. Using SPE products for such installations can simplify the network and reduce costs, allowing professional developers to focus on maximizing the potential of networked devices.
SPE simplifies the IIoT and industrial automation design process, providing a single high-speed connection that is ideal for edge devices, especially those that often need to be installed in tight spaces. SPE has proven to be a smooth, capable and reliable solution that ensures devices are always connected and always performing at their best.
Morgan added : “We are delighted that so many major suppliers have joined this initiative, which we believe heralds a new dawn in network connectivity, which is critical to meeting the needs of an increasingly connected world.”
SPE products from Amphenol, ADI, Harting, Microchip, Molex, Phoenix, Weidmuller and Wurth Electronik are available through Farnell (EMEA), Newark (North America) and element14 (APAC).
