Qorvo® simplifies Wi-Fi 6E system design with first FEM supporting 5.1 to 7.1 GHz frequency bands in a single module
Improves tri-band Wi-Fi 6E capabilities and delivers leading throughput for CPE enterprise-class gateways and access points
BEIJING, China – January 11, 2022 – Qorvo®, a leading provider of innovative RF solutions that connect the world, today introduced the first wideband front-end module (FEM) covering the 5.1 GHz to 7.1 GHz frequency band for CPE. Qorvo’s new wideband QPF4730 provides full-band support for Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E enterprise solutions.
In previous generations of Wi-Fi routers, each radio was fixed to a specific frequency due to the narrowband nature of existing solutions. To achieve wideband operation, manufacturers currently have to place a 5GHz front-end module, a 6GHz front-end module, and switching elements. The QPF4730 flexibly provides comprehensive high-band support while reducing the board space required for Wi-Fi 6E upgrades. This improves overall system performance, capacity, and flexibility.
"Qorvo's latest FEMs are optimized to operate at 5 GHz, 6 GHz or both to maximize system capacity and throughput that is not possible with existing CPE designs," said Tony Testa, Qorvo director of technical marketing. "The QPF4730 is the first in a new product family that addresses the operational and architectural flexibility of Wi-Fi 6E channels and will be suitable for solutions in home gateway routers and mesh systems."
The QPF4730 increases the efficiency of Wi-Fi 6/Wi-Fi 6E architectures and is optimized for Power over Ethernet (PoE), improving quality of service (QoS), range, and throughput. This solution maximizes user capacity and utilizes the full available spectrum. It also enables manufacturers to design smaller form factors than current gateways to meet user expectations for more compact, sleeker, and more efficient designs. With its expanded spectrum, Wi-Fi 6E delivers higher throughput while serving more client connections in home, campus, and enterprise environments.
