Keysight Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: KEYS), a leading technology company that helps enterprises, service providers and governments accelerate innovation to connect and secure the world, announced that its 5G test solutions have been selected by China Telecommunication Technology Laboratory (CTTL) to certify 5G devices in accordance with 5G NR (New Radio) 3GPP specifications in both FR1 (450 to 6000 MHz) and FR2 (24250 to 52600 MHz) frequency ranges.
CTTL is one of the largest certification laboratories in China's information and communications technology (ICT) industry and is affiliated with the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), a scientific research institution directly under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) of China. The test lab selected Keysight's 5G network and channel emulation solutions to build its first 5G conformance test platform for certifying 5G mmWave devices. With this move, CTTL can use Keysight's 5G test solutions for FR1 and FR2 frequency bands to meet the needs of China's 5G market. According to GSMA, by 2025, China's 5G market will support more than 460 million 5G connections.
The compact test chamber (CATR) is a key feature of Keysight's 5G OTA (Over-the-Air Test). The chamber can be seamlessly integrated with Keysight's network and channel emulation solutions to form an end-to-end 5G solution, which supports testing of devices of any form factor in any frequency band specified by 3GPP. CTTL uses Keysight's 5G test solutions to serve the connected mobile ecosystem, and 5G devices need to be performance verified before they are launched on the market. These 5G devices will be used to meet consumer demand in China's 5G market. According to Statista, this market is expected to grow from approximately 560 billion yuan in 2020 to approximately 4.35 trillion yuan in 2030.
By 2022, more than half of 5G users are expected to come from China. Last year, all three major Chinese mobile operators launched commercial 5G services and deployed more than 130,000 5G base stations, making China the world's largest 5G market. Major Chinese mobile device manufacturers, including Xiaomi, OnePlus and OPPO, have also selected Keysight's comprehensive 5G solutions to drive their own device R&D, verification and operator acceptance testing.
"We are pleased to deepen our collaboration with CTTL; this not only demonstrates Keysight's strong capabilities in addressing market needs, but also strengthens our broad vision of creating a secure, connected, information-based society," said Cao Peng, senior director of Keysight's Commercial Communications Group.
CTTL also used Keysight’s 5G test solutions to meet GCF and PTCRB certification requirements. Keysight has made significant contributions to 3GPP, the global mobile communications standards organization, and has provided a large number of GCF-validated 5G NR conformance test cases for protocol and radio frequency (RF) device validation.
In January 2020, Keysight Technologies announced a collaboration with CAICT to accelerate the 5G NR base station performance test program. The program is led by the IMT-2020 (5G) Promotion Group, which is an important platform that brings together many leading operators, manufacturers, universities and research institutions to promote 5G in China.
