With the official commercialization of 5G, deepening cooperation to promote 5G innovation and accelerate the arrival of 5G has become the focus of the industry. At the 2019 China Mobile Global Partner Conference, Intel and its industry ecosystem partners demonstrated full-scenario 5G technology and industry applications from network transformation to application innovation. As an important participant and key promoter of 5G, Intel focuses on 5G network transformation and cloudification, an important field with unlimited potential, and works with the industry ecosystem to promote the implementation of 5G application innovation in vertical fields and accelerate the commercialization of 5G.
Intel and China Mobile have been jointly promoting the transformation of telecommunications infrastructure to a more open and intelligent platform, deepening cooperation in wireless access, edge platforms, all-cloud networks and data centers, and promoting 5G application innovation in various industries. During this conference, Intel and China Mobile focused on demonstrating the innovation of edge platforms and edge businesses, serving innovative applications in vertical industries such as smart industry, smart healthcare and smart cities.
OneNET intelligent edge computing platform for multiple industries: China Mobile's OneNET edge computing platform can provide users with a full range of IoT architecture in a "cloud-edge collaboration" manner, and provide technical support for the intelligent transformation of traditional industries. The platform uses edge servers based on Intel Xeon Scalable Processors, and by introducing a VCAC-A-based visual acceleration card, it brings more efficient and flexible edge computing capabilities, taking into account strong computing power and strong machine vision deep learning reasoning capabilities. This solution extends OneNET cloud services to a variety of edge scenarios including 5G MEC, providing artificial intelligence, big data, IoT device management, industrial terminal protocol adaptation, video access, massive time series data storage and other functions. At present, solutions based on the OneNET edge computing platform have been successfully deployed in multiple industries such as machinery manufacturing and textiles.
Edge cloud solution for smart healthcare: At the "5G New Era, New Healthcare Ecosystem" forum of the conference, China Mobile released the 5G healthcare edge cloud solution. This solution is aimed at the medical industry and provides an integrated system with network connection, computing, storage and management capabilities to meet the business computing, deployment, connection and other needs of medical industry customers; for different types of medical industry customers, it provides medical industry edge computing all-in-one machines with different software and hardware configuration levels to create a standardized and replicable product series. As a new type of DICT infrastructure designed specifically for the medical industry in the 5G era, this system is one of the key technologies of the 5G medical private network, which can achieve data within the hospital area, flexible bandwidth adjustment, and flexible deployment of slices; it provides business localization and edge business mobility capabilities at the location closest to the customer, further reducing business latency, improving network operation efficiency, improving business distribution and transmission capabilities, optimizing and improving terminal customer experience, and at the same time providing network-level support for the development of emerging businesses, enabling the edge network to flow with changes in business locations, and is an enabling technology for many 5G network services in the future. Intel Xeon Scalable Processors provide a powerful computing platform for the cloud platform of edge computing all-in-one machines.
China Mobile's Super Brain Edge Computing Platform for Smart Cities: At the "New Smart City" forum of the conference, China Mobile released the China Mobile Super Brain Edge Computing People's Livelihood Service Platform. The platform uses a four-layer architecture (basic resource layer, platform support layer, capability middle layer, and software application layer) to manage basic resources, build platform capabilities, and maintain upper-layer applications, and realize cloud-network integration based on interaction with 5G networks. Intel's Xeon Scalable Processors and OpenNESS edge computing software development kit provide strong support for the basic resource layer of the platform, helping operators and developers to more conveniently manage and orchestrate edge services, achieve rapid service launch, and efficient and accurate operation and maintenance. At present, the China Mobile Super Brain Edge Computing People's Livelihood Service Platform has supported the launch of applications for multiple projects. For example, the "5G+MEC Smart Park" launched in the JD Park provides services such as inspection robots, cloud office, and MEC platform security. It is the first smart park pilot based on 5G+MEC in the country.
In addition to edge innovation, Intel also strongly supports China Mobile in fully serving the government and enterprise market, new business, personal and family market, laying a solid foundation for China Mobile's value management. In order to support the development of China Mobile's government and enterprise business, the two parties released the SD-WAN solution for platform transformation at the conference's Institute Innovation Results Release Conference. For enterprise customer groups, this solution is based on Intel's 5G network facility reference design and software development kit, with three different levels of high, medium and low, and the advantages of low cost and high performance, and has flexibility and customization in software and hardware.
In the exhibition area of the conference, Intel presented a star product portfolio with Xeon Scalable Processors as the core to meet the needs of different workloads, and focused on the OpenNESS edge computing software development kit and edge application innovation. Intel also worked with industry ecosystem partners to jointly showcase open telecommunications infrastructure such as uCPE/SD-WAN solutions, 5G cloud base stations, and OTII edge overall solutions to promote the openness, intelligence and integration of network platforms. Among them, the uCPE/SD-WAN solution is a complete solution from cloud to edge to end for 5G hardware white box devices; business-aware user plane acceleration (UPF) can realize batch processing and forwarding of hot spot messages, effectively reducing the consumption of CPU by business logic. In addition, there are vertical industry application displays such as 5G edge computing + blockchain, cloud gaming solutions, and cloud VR 5G innovative applications.
By integrating communications and computing, Intel is leading the transformation of 5G technology. Intel provides product technologies and software platforms across the network, edge and cloud to help deploy 5G network infrastructure, and through cooperation and exploration with the industry ecosystem, it brings a wealth of innovative 5G applications.
