AMIMON, a market leader in semiconductor solutions for wireless HDTV, announced that consumer electronics manufacturers such as ASUS, BOE, Galaxy, Malata, Panda Group, Winstar and 35.com, as well as several accessory manufacturers, have announced that their new WHDI products have adopted AMIMON's WHDI chipsets, benefiting from the significant growth in market demand for WHDI technology. These manufacturers have released a variety of WHDI devices, such as wireless HDTV with embedded WHDI, PC-to-TV adapters, tablets with embedded WHDI, and WHDI expansion accessories for mobile phones. At the same time, four of the top five TV manufacturers in China, Changhong, Haier, Hisense, and TCL Group, have developed products using AMIMON's WHDI technology, many of which have already been launched, and more new products will be launched early this year.
With the continuous expansion of WHDI applications, many leading equipment manufacturers such as Askey, Cameo, Foxconn, Gemtek, LG Innotek, LiteOn, QMI, Zinwell, etc. have already provided modules and products based on WHDI technology. Under the system combining original design manufacturers (ODM) and original equipment manufacturers (OEM), WHDI technology is expected to be widely adopted in the beginning of this year.
WHDI allows consumers to wirelessly connect all devices in their home to HDTV to play all video and interactive content, including Internet content. Currently, consumers buy games, high-definition videos and other content on their personal computers, tablets or mobile phones, and can immediately transfer them to the TV for display. For all devices that meet the WHDI standard, consumers only need to look for the WHDI logo to ensure that all devices can work compatible.
WHDI can stably transmit full HD image quality and 3D content. Its low latency allows consumers to wirelessly connect to HDTV and play games on personal computers and portable devices. Its low power consumption and small size make it particularly suitable for battery-powered portable devices.

“AMIMON is the clear leader in the HD wireless market, with no other company on the market having been selected in as many and as diverse a range of products as AMIMON,” said Dr. Yoav Nissan-Cohen, Chairman and CEO of AMIMON. “WHDI technology has proven to be the HD wireless technology of choice for consumer electronics manufacturers and consumers. We expect demand for AMIMON’s WHDI chipsets to increase dramatically.”
“The development of new WHDI source devices and HDTVs reflects the continued growth of the WHDI ecosystem, enabling universal connectivity across all products,” said Leslie Chard, president of the WHDI Association. “The diversity of products demonstrates the robustness of WHDI and its key feature: WHDI is the only technology that can provide wireless HDTV connectivity in all environments.”
"The increasing demand for wireless HDTV products underscores the strong growth of the market ecosystem for AMIMON's WHDI technology," said Zhang Long, R&D Manager at Haier Group. "Haier's goal is to provide consumers with the latest and most innovative technology; in the case of wireless HDTV products, that technology is WHDI."
"WHDI is the first and only wireless high-definition video connection solution that can connect smartphones to TV sets without latency," said Chen Junru, General Manager of Mobile Terminal Business Unit at 35.com. "This will bring tremendous value to smartphone manufacturers, mobile operators, Internet video providers, and end users."
WHDI is the dominant wireless video standard in the market. West Technology Research Solutions (WTRS), a leading wireless industry analysis organization, pointed out in an industry report that WHDI technology accounted for nearly 70% of the market share in wireless video products in 2010, and is expected to grow to more than 75% by 2015. The recognition and adoption of these manufacturers will further strengthen the market forecast for AMIMON's WHDI technology.
AMIMON's wireless technology forms the basis for the WHDI™ (Wireless Home Digital Interface™) standard. The WHDI standard provides the highest image quality for indoor and multi-room HD wireless connections, including uncompressed 1080p/60Hz HD video. WHDI uses 40MHz channels in the 5GHz unlicensed band, supports all 3D formats required by the HDMI™ 1.4a specification, can be transmitted over distances of more than 100 feet (30 meters), and can penetrate obstacles and walls with a latency of less than 1 millisecond. WHDI also supports HDCP 2.0 revision, provides outstanding security and digital content protection capabilities, and is fully compatible with HDMI.
