In today's electronics manufacturing industry, surface mount technology (SMT) has become the mainstream production method. The processing workshop environment of SMT factories has a significant impact on product quality, process efficiency and equipment life, so its environmental requirements should be as strict as possible to ensure production efficiency and product quality. The following will introduce the environmental requirements of SMT factory processing workshops in detail.
1. Temperature and humidity control
First of all, the temperature and humidity in the SMT processing workshop must be strictly controlled. Generally speaking, the temperature in the workshop should be maintained at 23±3℃, and the relative humidity should be maintained between 45%-65%. This is because if the temperature is too high, it may cause thermal stress in electronic components and PCB boards, affecting product quality; if the temperature is too low, it may cause low-temperature brittleness in some components. At the same time, too high humidity will cause components to absorb moisture, oxidize, and even cause static electricity accidents; too low humidity will make the components too dry and generate static electricity.
2. Electrostatic protection
SMT processing workshops have extremely high requirements for electrostatic protection. Since static electricity can damage sensitive electronic components such as chips and circuit boards, the workshop should set up appropriate anti-static measures. This includes wearing anti-static clothing, using anti-static shoes, anti-static gloves, anti-static floor mats, anti-static table mats, etc. In addition, equipment and tools should also have good grounding measures to reduce the damage of static electricity to electronic components.
3. Lighting requirements
Lighting is the basis for ensuring work efficiency and quality. SMT processing workshops should provide sufficient lighting brightness and avoid strong direct light or reflected light interference. Generally, the lighting brightness in the workshop should be between 300-500Lux, especially for precision work areas, the lighting brightness should reach more than 600Lux.
4. Air Quality
Since the SMT processing will produce some harmful gases and particles, the air quality requirements of the SMT processing workshop are relatively high.
The workshop should be equipped with a good ventilation system to ensure air circulation and reduce the concentration of harmful substances. At the same time, an air filtration system should be set up to reduce the impact of particles and dust, because these tiny particles may affect the normal operation of the equipment and even damage sensitive electronic components.
5. Noise Control
The noise in the SMT processing workshop should also be effectively controlled. Continuous high-intensity noise not only affects the physical and mental health of workers, but may also cause vibration to some precision equipment, affecting the stability and accuracy of the equipment. Therefore, the noise in the workshop should be reduced as much as possible by taking measures such as sound insulation and sound absorption, and selecting low-noise equipment.
6. Dust prevention requirements
Dust and particles may have adverse effects on electronic components and printed circuit boards (PCBs), such as causing short circuits, reduced insulation performance, etc. Therefore, SMT processing workshops need to set up dust prevention measures, such as regular cleaning and the use of air purifiers, to keep the workshop clean.
7. Workspace Layout
The layout of the SMT processing workshop should also be carefully designed to improve work efficiency and reduce the error rate. Straight production lines should be used as much as possible to ensure a smooth production process and reduce the transportation distance of components and products during the production process. In addition, there should be enough operating space to prevent operating errors caused by crowded space.
8. Safety Measures
SMT processing workshops should be equipped with adequate safety measures, such as fire alarm systems, emergency evacuation passages, etc. At the same time, staff should receive necessary safety training to prevent accidents during work.
In summary, the environmental requirements of SMT factory processing workshops cover temperature and humidity, static electricity, lighting, air quality, noise, dust prevention, space layout and safety. All these factors will affect the efficiency of SMT processing and product quality, so they must be strictly controlled and managed. An excellent SMT factory is one that can find the best balance among all these environmental requirements to achieve efficient and high-quality production.
