Pre-configured CryptoAuthentication™ ICs help reduce development time and minimize design costs
Secure key provisioning is critical to protecting sensitive keys from third-party tampering and malicious attacks. Secure key storage is essential to ensure the security of consumer, industrial, data center and medical applications, but the process of developing and documenting secure key provisioning can be complex and costly. To lower the barrier to entry for secure key provisioning and enable faster prototyping, Microchip Technology has added the ECC204, SHA104 and SHA105 CryptoAuthentication™ ICs to its TrustFLEX portfolio of devices, services and tools.
The ECC20x and SHA10x ICs are hardware-based secure storage devices that hide cryptographic keys from unauthorized attacks. As part of the TrustFLEX platform, the ECC204, SHA104 and SHA105 ICs are pre-configured with defined use cases, customizable cryptographic keys and code examples to simplify the development process.
“The addition of ECC20x and SHA10x pre-configured devices to our TrustFLEX platform will enable a wider range of applications to leverage Microchip’s secure provisioning services,” said Nuri Dagdeviren, corporate vice president of Microchip’s Secure Computing Division . “With this platform expansion, Microchip continues to strengthen its portfolio of secure authentication ICs with broader applicability and more specific optimizations for high-volume, cost-sensitive applications.”
The ECC20x and SHA10x devices meet the Common Criteria Joint Interpretation Library (JIL) high-rated secure key storage requirements and are certified by NIST Entropy Source Validation (ESV) and Cryptographic Algorithm Validation Program (CAVP) for Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS). The secure IC family is designed to implement trusted authentication to maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and authenticity of data and communications in a variety of systems and applications.
Microchip's CryptoAuthentication ICs are small, low-power devices that are compatible with any microprocessor (MPU) or microcontroller (MCU). They provide flexible solutions for the security of industrial, medical equipment, battery-powered devices, and disposable applications. In addition, the ECC204 is a Qi® certified secure storage subsystem (SSS) approved by the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC). Please visit the Microchip website for more information on the Trust Platform and related security solution portfolio.
Development Tools
Microchip’s Trusted Platform Design Toolkit supports the ECC20x and SHA10x ICs, providing code examples and learning materials to enable secure transmission of credentials, making it easier to take advantage of Microchip’s secure key provisioning services. The MPLAB® X Integrated Development Environment (IDE), product-specific evaluation boards and the CryptoAuthLib library also support the ECC20x and SHA10x ICs.
Availability and Pricing
The ECC204 IC is priced at $0.52 per unit (in quantities of 2,000), and the SHA104/SHA105 IC is priced at $0.50 per unit (in quantities of 2,000).
