Integrating VeriSilicon's pixel processing IP portfolio into the high-precision, low-latency K230 chip
March 14, 2024, Shanghai, China - VeriSilicon announced today that Canaan Technology's K230, the world's first commercial mass-produced end-side AIoT chip that supports the RISC-V Vector 1.0 standard, integrates VeriSilicon's image signal processor (ISP) IP ISP8000, distortion correction (DeWarp) processor IP DW200, and 2.5D graphics processor (GPU) IP GCNanoV. This cooperation has greatly optimized high-precision, low-latency end-side AIoT solutions, which can be widely used in various smart products and scenarios, such as edge-side large-model multi-modal access terminals, 3D structured light depth sensing modules, interactive Type robots, open source hardware, and hardware equipment related to smart manufacturing, smart home, and smart education, etc.
VeriSilicon's ISP8000 IP can process three or more high-definition video streams in real time. Its 20-bit deep pipeline architecture supports advanced image processing algorithms, such as triple-exposure high dynamic range processing (HDR) and three-dimensional noise reduction (3DNR). . ISP8000's optimized software works seamlessly with RISC-V processors to efficiently manage and schedule system resources. On the K230 chip, leveraging the performance and power consumption advantages of the RT-Thread real-time operating system and RISC-V processor, this IP can perform real-time scheduling and efficiently run software under a dual-core processor architecture. In addition, ISP8000 is fully compatible with K230 SDK and supports RTOS and Linux dual operating systems, achieving a perfect balance between real-time and non-real-time operations.
VeriSilicon's DW200 IP can not only accurately correct the distortion of wide-angle or fisheye lenses, but also support multiple zoom outputs through low-bandwidth direct connection mode, enriching user application scenarios and especially suitable for AI applications that require multiple spatial output formats. . For MCU/MPU devices, VeriSilicon's low-power 2.5D GPU IP provides high-performance, high-quality vector graphics processing capabilities and high-quality image output.
Wang Honggang, vice president of R&D at Canaan, said: "By integrating VeriSilicon's advanced pixel processing IP portfolio, our end-side AIoT SoC K230 based on RISC-V architecture has leading performance and image quality among similar products. This enables more End-side equipment suppliers are able to develop innovative products suitable for wider market applications. VeriSilicon's ISP technology is one of the key factors driving our end-side AIoT SoC innovation."
“RISC-V is becoming increasingly important in embedded products. VeriSilicon has partnered with all major RISC-V CPU IP vendors to ensure we have Glass-to-Glass )'s intelligent pixel processing IP portfolio can achieve seamless and efficient collaboration with the RISC-V architecture." Dai Weijin, VeriSilicon executive vice president and general manager of the IP business unit, said, "Through close collaboration with Canaan, the device-side AIoT SoC K230 Excellent image quality is achieved while maintaining low power consumption and low latency. In addition, using the advanced multi-context management (MCM) function of ISP8000, K230 is able to support multi-sensor inputs, further enhancing its market competitiveness."
