Strategy Analytics released a report stating that the 2020 coronavirus pandemic drove tablet application processor market revenue and shipments to a six-year high.
The report pointed out that the tablet application processor (AP) market resumed growth in 2020 after five consecutive years of declining shipments.

The report shows that tablet application processor market revenue increased by 36% year-on-year in 2020 to US$2.6 billion; at the same time, shipments increased by 26% year-on-year. In 2020, Apple, Intel, Qualcomm, MediaTek and Samsung LSI occupied the top five tablet application processor revenue shares.
In 2020, Apple maintained its lead in the tablet application processor market with 48% revenue share, followed by Intel (16%) and Qualcomm (14%).
Strategy Analytics analysts predict that in 2020, Arm-based tablet application processor shipments will account for 89% of total tablet application processor shipments. The release of the M1 by Apple Mac, Qualcomm's acquisition of Nuvia, and Nvidia's proposed acquisition of Arm all indicate that the mobile computing market is increasingly interested in the Arm ecosystem. It is expected that the battle for mobile computing CPUs will bring more competition and innovation to the market in the next two years.
