According to foreign media reports, up to 20GB of internal confidential documents of chip giant Intel were uploaded to an online document sharing website by a Swiss engineer, containing the intellectual property rights of multiple chips.
This batch of Intel's internal confidential documents was uploaded to the online document sharing website MEGA by a Swiss software engineer named Till Kottmann, who is not an Intel employee, early Thursday local time.
Foreign media reported that the 20GB of Intel internal documents were marked as confidential or restricted confidential. Till Kottmann said that the documents he uploaded came from an anonymous hacker who claimed that he attacked Intel earlier this year.
The 20GB of internal documents shared this time contain the intellectual property of multiple chips designed internally by Intel. These documents include CPU technical specifications, product guides and manuals dating back to 2016.
Foreign media reviewed the relevant documents with a security researcher who had previously analyzed Intel CPUs and is still in contact with Intel. He believes that these documents are authentic.
Till Kottmann said that Intel's 20GB of confidential documents have not been published anywhere else.
Foreign media also browsed this part of the documents and did not find any sensitive information of customers or employees, but it is unclear whether the subsequent information will include it. Till Kottmann has claimed that what has been released so far is only the first batch of documents related to Intel, and they have multiple batches.
