Child safety protection, as an important part of automobile safety, has been increasingly valued by automobile manufacturers. Currently, many child protection devices have been applied to various types of vehicles. Therefore, parents are advised to choose vehicles with these safety devices to improve the safety factor of children riding in vehicles.
Window Anti-Pinch Technology
According to data, more than 40 children in the United States die of suffocation each year due to being caught in electric windows. It is reported that the anti-pinch technology for car windows is achieved through "touch" and "vision". "Touch" means that when the electric window mechanism senses a foreign object on the glass, it will automatically stop the glass from rising. When the anti-pinch electric window is closing, the electronic control unit (ECU) and the Hall sensor in the drive mechanism monitor the speed of the motor at all times. When the Hall sensor detects a foreign object on the glass, it will report the information to the ECU, and the ECU will issue a command to stop or reverse (drop) the motor, and the anti-pinch electric window will stop moving or drop.
The more advanced control system relies on "vision". This is an optical control system that monitors whether there are foreign objects within the moving range of the electric window, thereby controlling the movement of the glass without the foreign objects touching the glass. The main component of this system is an optical sensor, which consists of an infrared transmitter and a receiver. It is installed on the interior of the window and can continuously and accurately scan the specified area. This area generally refers to the range of 4 to 200 mm from the top edge of the window when the window glass moves upward. Once a foreign object is detected, the sensor will quickly feed back the information to the ECU, and the ECU will issue a command to stop the motor. Because this device is small, concealed, and technologically advanced, it is called "intelligent non-contact anti-pinch glass."
Children's booster cushion
A child booster seat is used in conjunction with a child safety seat. Surveys show that when children are 3 to 4 years old, it is safest for them to ride facing backwards. After that, their necks are stronger and they can ride facing forwards, using standard adult seat belts and seat belt positioning booster seats. Currently, mainstream international automakers advocate that children should use booster seats before they reach 140 cm in height and before they are 10 years old.
The booster seat allows the lap belt to be tied to the pelvis, passing through the thighs at the lowest point, and not reaching above the soft tissue of the abdomen. Tighten the seat belt and keep it as close to the body as possible, and the shoulder belt passes diagonally across the chest. The shoulder belt passing along the neck does not affect the safety effect. If the seat belt is clamped under the arm or passes through the back, it will not provide protection in the event of an accident.
In fact, child safety seats are developed to better protect adult seat belts. Volvo accident investigation and research team proved that the use of child safety seats can reduce the risk by 60%.
Booster seats come in different styles and sizes, with or without backrests. Some cars can be equipped with an integrated booster seat, which is always available and will not be forgotten, and it is also easier to wear the seat belt correctly.
Children's head protection air cushion
According to research, in a frontal collision, the child's body can be protected by the seat belt, but the head will move forward and put pressure on the neck. This pressure may cause injury, depending on the severity of the collision and the size of the child. At this time, a child head restraint is very necessary to minimize the damage to the child's head and neck in a collision.
A child head protection air cushion called "Sleep Safe" has been developed abroad. One end of this air cushion can be fixed to the headrest of the child safety seat, and the other end wraps the child's neck. The design concept of this child head protection air cushion comes from the Hans technology used in Formula One racing cars. Hans technology has been proven to be very effective in alleviating the pressure on the neck during a collision, and the sponge pad that contacts the body can also balance the swaying feeling of the car while driving. When children fall asleep in the car, their bodies can easily slip out of the seat belt. "Sleep Safe" can hold up the child's head so that they will not lose protection even if they fall asleep.
Rear child lock
Rear-seat child locks are currently used in most car models. The principle is also very simple. A switch is set at a certain position in the front row. Parents only need to press the switch and the rear-seat child locks will be locked to prevent children from opening the door by themselves.
