Mobileye and Zeekr plan to launch the world's first consumer-grade autonomous vehicle with L4 capabilities as early as 2024
Las Vegas, January 4, 2022 – Mobileye and Zeekr, the new smart electric brand under Geely Holding Group, today jointly announced that they will expand the scope of their strategic technology cooperation: Mobileye and Zeekr will work together to develop new consumer-grade pure electric vehicles with L4 autonomous driving capabilities.
Mobileye and Zeekr partner to develop consumer self-driving cars
The self-driving car will be equipped with six EyeQ® 5 system-on-chips (SoCs) to support Mobileye's True Redundancy™ sensing system, driving strategy based on the Responsibility Sensitive Safety Model (RSS), and a new open collaboration model based on Road Network Information Management (REM™) map technology. Based on the redundant braking, steering and power functions of Geely's SEA vast architecture, the car achieves efficient integration of Mobileye and Zeekr software technology under the open EyeQ concept. In addition, Mobileye will strengthen its R&D capabilities in China, establish a local data center and expand Mobileye's Chinese team to support the rapidly growing business in China.
Professor Amnon Shashua, President and CEO of Mobileye , said: “The further expansion of the scope of Mobileye’s cooperation with Zeekr shows that we have the same vision for the future of mobility. Zeekr’s selection of Mobileye as its technology partner demonstrates Mobileye’s ability to achieve our common goals and will further consolidate our industry leadership.”
The new all-electric Zeekr car is expected to be launched in China as early as 2024, and is expected to become the world's first consumer-grade autonomous vehicle with L4 autonomous driving capabilities. This new model is a further expansion of Zeekr's existing models, using Mobileye Drive™ technology and the open SEA vast architecture, and will eventually be launched in the global market.
Mobileye and Zeekr have already collaborated on the development of advanced advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) across a range of Zeekr vehicles. The new collaboration announced today will expand the long-term strategic technology partnership between the two companies. In the future, Mobileye and Zeekr will work together on a vision of safer and more efficient mobility based on an open collaboration framework including REM™.
Zeekr Intelligent Technology CEO An Conghui said: "Mobileye has always been our strategic partner, and our common mission is to provide passenger cars that make future transportation more sustainable and automated. Our cooperation will support Zeekr and Mobileye to achieve the common goal of leading the development of the global ADAS and autonomous driving industry. Zeekr welcomes open cooperation, which will facilitate the integration of Zeekr and Mobileye's technical expertise to better create a sophisticated autonomous driving travel experience for customers."
