Internet of Things – Wireless Communication Technology [Copy link]

1.1 Short-range wireless technology - Bluetooth
is our Bluetooth technology, and now it has reached the fourth generation of Bluetooth technology. The so-called "Bluetooth" is a large-capacity short-range wireless digital communication technology standard, which aims to achieve a maximum data rate of 1Mbps and a maximum transmission distance of 10cm-10m, which can be increased to 100m by increasing the transmission power.
Advantages: fast speed, low power consumption, high security
Disadvantages: few network nodes, not suitable for multi-point control

1.2 Short-range wireless technology - WiFi
WiFi is a technology that allows electronic devices to connect to WLAN, usually using 2G or 5G frequency bands
Advantages: wide coverage, fast data transmission rate
Disadvantages: poor transmission security, poor stability, high power consumption, poor networking capabilities

1.3 Short-range wireless technology - ZigBee
ZigBee is a short-range, low-power wireless communication technology
Features: short distance, low complexity, self-organization, low power consumption, low data rate. Widely used in industry and smart home fields.

1.4 Short-range wireless communication - Z-Wave

Z-Wave is an emerging short-range wireless communication technology based on radio frequency, low cost, low
power consumption, high reliability, and suitable for the Internet. Advantages: simple structure, low speed, low power consumption, low cost, high reliability
Disadvantages: the standard is not open, and the chip can only be obtained from Sigma Designs, the only source

2.1LPWA-Sigfox
uses UNB technology, which has a very low transmission power consumption level and uses the unlicensed ISM radio frequency band. 868MHz in Europe and 915MHz in the United States

2.2LPWA-LoRa
is the abbreviation of "Long Range", a low-power wide area network standard based on the open source MAC layer protocol, based on the Sub-GHz frequency band, with low power consumption and long-distance communication.
Features: long distance, number of nodes, 10,000, 1 million, battery life 3-10 years, data rate, 0.3-50kbps

2.3LPWA-NB-loT
is based on cellular narrowband IoT, building a cellular network, which consumes only about 180KHz of bandwidth and can directly deploy GSM, UMTS and LTE networks. It has the advantages of low power consumption, wide coverage, low cost and large capacity.

2.4LPWA-eMTC
designs the soft characteristics of the Internet of Things based on LTE access technology (under rated voltage, if the load changes, the speed changes little, which means that the mechanical characteristics are hard; conversely, if the speed changes greatly, it means that the mechanical characteristics are soft). It is mainly aimed at low-speed, deep coverage, low power consumption, and large-connection scenarios.

2.5LPWA-eLTE-loT
Huawei eLTE-loT is based on the unlicensed ISM spectrum below 1GHz, and supports the Internet of Things protocol to connect with the company's existing application platform, providing network support for smart meter reading, parking, industrial sensor detection, etc.

Comparison of LPWA technologies:

The first two are unlicensed SubG frequency bands. If an operator builds a network by themselves, the cost is very high. However, NB-loT is based on the licensed Sub-G frequency band and can be directly deployed on the operator's network, which reduces costs and is also welcomed by operators.

Compared with NB-IoT, eMTC can reach a rate of 1Mbps, but has limited coverage, high power consumption, and small capacity. In addition, eMTC provides certain voice communication capabilities.
