Recently, Mercedes-Benz conducted a live broadcast of its electrification strategy, including the new generation of plug-in hybrid technology. In the live broadcast, Mercedes-Benz reiterated that the brand will achieve carbon neutrality (zero carbon emissions) for passenger cars by 2039, and announced that by the end of 2020, it will launch more than 20 plug-in hybrid models; by 2030, pure electric vehicles and hybrid models will account for more than half of its total sales.

In the electrification process of Mercedes-Benz, the company has reached a strategic cooperation with Chinese power battery cell manufacturer Farasis Energy (Ganzhou) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Farasis Energy") in July 2020. It is expected that Daimler Greater China Investment Co., Ltd. will invest tens of millions of euros in exchange for about 3% of Farasis Energy's shares. In the cooperation, the two parties will jointly develop high-tech battery cell technology to further improve battery energy density and shorten charging time. At the same time, Farasis Energy will also build a power battery cell factory in Bitterfeld-Wolfen in eastern Germany.

As for the specific electrification strategic route, the first strategy formulated by Mercedes-Benz is based on the 48V on-board motor technology represented by EQ Boost; the second strategy is EQ Power, which represents the plug-in hybrid technology; the third strategy is the EQ model lineup representing pure electric technology. Following EQC, the brand's second pure electric model will be EQA.
