Tyrata, a tire sensor and data management company, has expanded its patented IntelliTread™ tire tread wear sensor platform to include a low-profile drive-over system. The IntelliTread™ Drive-Over-System (DOS) provides actionable data about tire tread wear when a vehicle passes over low, speed bump-like structures.

The sensor system is part of the growing Tyrata IntelliTread™ portfolio, which is designed to meet the need for fast, cost-effective and highly scalable tire tread depth measurement. Ideal for a variety of consumer and commercial vehicle service centers, the IntelliTread DOS system quickly assesses tread depth and obtains real-time tread readings by simply passing a car, truck or bus over it. Such measurements can facilitate proper tire repair service, reduce fuel consumption and improve safety by allowing worn tires to be replaced promptly.

“The introduction of IntelliTread™ Drive-Over-System is consistent with our goal to improve tire safety and provide unique value-added services to customers within the tire industry,” said Aaron Franklin, Chief Technology Officer, Tyrata. “By acquiring, processing and analyzing advanced data, IntelliTread™ Drive-Over-System provides critical data points that can be used to extend the life of a tire or minimize tire wear-related failures by removing worn tires from the road. For fleet customers, this new capability is ideal because tread monitoring can begin immediately without changing any operations.”

The IntelliTread™ Drive-Over-System is rugged and easy to implement, operate and maintain. In addition, as part of the data package and agreement, Tyrata plans to provide the hardware, software and analytical data for the system at no upfront cost.
