WPG World Peace Group launches automotive short-range radar solution based on TI products

WPG Holdings announced that its subsidiary WPI has launched a short-range automotive radar solution based on Texas Instruments (TI) products. The solution provides a basis for the use of the AWR1642 evaluation module (EVM) application, helping the AWR1642 to establish a 3D high-resolution perception environment around the vehicle and achieve real-time detection of the system from 0 to 100 meters.

Radars all over the vehicle will automatically adjust their perception performance according to the different states of the vehicle. For example, when the vehicle is driving slowly, its radar can provide a perception range from a few centimeters to more than ten meters; when the vehicle is driving at high speed, its radar's perception range will expand to 60-80 meters. The AWR1642 solution equipped with TIDEP-009's short-range radar (SRR) solution has a dynamically adjusted configuration. On the AWR device, it can automatically adjust the configuration according to the different states of the vehicle, and the perception range will expand as the speed changes.

Functional Description

  • Single-chip radar for SRR applications ;

  • Detect objects (such as cars and motorcycles) with a resolution of 35 cm at distances up to 80 meters ;

  • Antenna field of view ±60°, angular resolution approximately 15° ;

  • Fast Fourier transform (FFT) processing and detection source code provided by the mmWave Software Development Kit (SDK) ;

  • The AWR1642 EVM demonstrates the design ;

  • The radar front end and detection configuration are fully described .
