Jiangsu Multidimensional Technology Co., Ltd. (MDT) announced the launch of two TMR (tunnel magnetoresistance) magnetic angle sensors that can be widely used in various industrial sensor applications, including rotary encoders, speed sensors, non-contact potentiometers and rotary position controllers for brushless DC motors (BLDC).
The MMA253F/MMA153F TMR magnetic angle sensor is designed with MDT's original TMR sensor technology and intellectual property, which can perform 360-degree full-scale measurement, with high and stable output signal amplitude and large tolerance of measurement spacing. MDT's TMR magnetic angle sensor reduces the complexity of the signal processing circuit.
"We are fully committed to providing customers with the technical advantages of TMR sensors and to meeting their needs in a variety of ways," said Dr. Song Xue, Chairman and CEO of MultiDimension Technology. "In addition to supplying TMR magnetic sensor chips, we can also provide complete system solutions on demand. We can customize TMR sensor wafers for customers who place large orders and integrate them with their own ASIC (application-specific integrated circuit) technology."
Dr. Xue said that MDT's new TMR magnetic angle sensors have low power consumption, high accuracy and stable output signals, thus reducing the overall system cost of rotary encoders. They can be easily integrated with analog or digital circuits.
MDT's TMR sensor technology combines the key advantages of existing magnetic sensor technologies such as AMR (Anisotropic Magnetoresistance), GMR (Giant Magnetoresistance) and Hall Effect, while overcoming the limitations of these technologies, including low signal sensitivity (Hall, AMR and GMR) and complex 360-degree measurement design (AMR).
Key Features
• 360 degree measurement and dual axis SINE/COSINE output (MMA253F)
• Single axis 180 degree measurement (MMA153F)
• Output signal is higher than 90% of the supply voltage, no amplification required
• Very low power consumption, only 7 microamps at 1 volt
• High accuracy (1 degree angular error) and high resolution (12-bit resolution with custom circuits)
• The tolerance range of the measurement interval is larger, which supports more flexible implementation schemes
• Small LGA8 and SOP8 packages
The MMA253F/MMA153F TMR magnetic sensors are available for immediate sampling. Users can also obtain the evaluation kit MMA253F-EVL to evaluate the electromagnetic characteristics of the MMA253F sensor. The MMA253F-EVL kit provides an LCD display, USB interface, and 12-bit digital output for absolute or incremental rotary encoders.
