STMicroelectronics launches TSC102 current sensing amplifier chip

STMicroelectronics has introduced a new series of current-sense amplifier chips, the TSC102, which can simplify the design of smarter and safer control systems by improving the accuracy of current sensing and giving designers greater flexibility to adjust sensor outputs before inputting into the system controller.

Accurate system current sensing is central to the effective control of precision equipment, such as those that perform positioning functions, operate at variable speeds, or maximize energy efficiency through continuous automatic optimization. Accurate current sensing is also important in various safety systems, such as the automatic stop function of power window lifts to prevent discomfort or harm to the user, and this safety application relies on current sensing.

The TSC102 from STMicroelectronics is a low-power high-side current-sense amplifier that can be directly connected to a small current-sense resistor up to 30V. The direct connection method can monitor the system without affecting the ground connection configuration, which is critical in applications such as automotive systems or multi-output power supply monitoring. The TSC102 also has a stable input characteristic and can withstand voltages from -16V to 60V. These voltages appear in systems where there are many loads continuously switching or in applications where there is a risk of reverse battery connection, such as automotive electrical infrastructure.

The TSC102 integrates two operational amplifiers. Unlike other brands, the TSC102 allows designers to fully use the pins of the second operational amplifier to implement various signal conditioning functions, such as gain adjustment to optimize the output signal level range. This op amp can also be configured as a current comparator to implement overcurrent protection; or as a first-order or second-order low-pass filter to improve the stability of current sensing in noisy systems.

Key features of the TSC102:

2.8V-30V input common mode voltage range

Current consumption less than 420μA

Operating temperature range: -40℃ to +125℃

4kV ESD (electrostatic discharge) protection

Industrial quality products (TSC102IPT and TSC102IDT)

AEC-Q101 automotive quality products (TSC102IYPT & TSC102IYDT)

RoHS compliant TSSOP-8 or SO-8 package

The TSC102 expands ST's portfolio of high-side current-sense amplifiers, which include products optimized for high accuracy, high input voltage, or low cost. The TSC102 is available now for sampling and volume production.

Whether in principle or in practice, the advantages of electronic crossover have been widely recognized. But why has it not been widely promoted? I think there are two main reasons:     First, the effective frequency bands of different speaker units are different. A set of electronic crossovers with fixed crossover poi

Using Directional Coupler and RF Logarithmic Amplifier to Realize VSWR Detection and Protection
Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR) is a parameter used to describe the degree of impedance mismatch in a circuit. Poor VSWR can cause many problems in RF circuits. The worst case caused by VSWR is permanent damage to the RF/microwave high power amplifier (HPA), which is usually called VSWR failure. Therefore, it is

How to Use Zero-Drift Amplifiers in Wide-Bandwidth Applications
Zero-drift op amps use chopping, auto-zeroing, or a combination of these two techniques to remove unwanted low-frequency error sources such as offset and 1/f noise. Traditionally, these amplifiers have been used only in low-bandwidth applications because these techniques create artifacts at higher frequencies. Wider
