Parameter description of ground resistance tester
Ground current: current flowing in the earth or in a grounding electrode.
Grounding conductor: refers to the conductor that constitutes the ground, which connects equipment, electrical devices, wiring systems, or other conductors (usually neutral wires) to the grounding electrode.
Grounding electrode: a conductor that constitutes the ground.
Grounding connection: a connection used to constitute the ground, which consists of a grounding conductor, a grounding electrode, and the earth (soil) surrounding the grounding electrode or a conductor that replaces the earth.
Grounding grid: a group of grounding electrodes composed of interconnected bare conductors buried in the ground, used to provide a common ground for electrical equipment and metal structures. Grounding
system: a system consisting of multiple grounding connections that are all connected to each other in a specified area.
Grounding electrode ground resistance: the ohm law resistance between a grounding electrode and a remote grounding electrode with zero potential. (Note: The so-called remote refers to a distance, at which the mutual resistance between the two grounding electrodes is basically zero.) Grounding electrode mutual resistance
: refers to the voltage variable generated by a 1A DC current variable of one grounding electrode at another grounding electrode, expressed in ohms.
Potential: refers to the potential difference between a point and a certain equipotential surface (usually a remote ground surface) that is considered to have zero potential.
Touch voltage: the potential difference between a grounded metal structure and a point on the ground at a certain distance. This distance is usually equal to the maximum horizontal arm distance, which is about 1m.
Step voltage: the potential difference between two points on the ground at one step distance, and this distance is 1m in the direction of the maximum potential gradient. (Note: When a worker stands on the ground or something and current flows through the ground or the object, this potential difference may be dangerous, especially in a fault state)
(For lightning protection of overhead lines) Grounding electrode: refers to a conductor or a group of conductors installed under the transmission line, located on the ground or above the ground, but most of them are underground and connected to the tower or pole foundation.
Soil resistivity: refers to the resistance between opposite faces of a unit cube, usually in Ω•m or Ω•cm.
