AVR microcontroller is a new type of microcontroller developed by ATMEL. Compared with 51 microcontroller and PIC microcontroller, it has much higher operating efficiency, larger capacity of Flsah, EEPROM and SRAM inside the chip, and supports online programming (ISP). Each IO port can output high and low levels in a push-to-drive manner. It has strong driving ability and rich internal resources. It generally integrates AD and DA analog-to-digital converters; PWM; SPI, USART, TWI, I2C communication ports; rich interrupt sources, etc. The main model currently used is ATMEGA8/16.
ARM is not a single-chip microcomputer. To be precise, ARM is an IP core of a processor. After developing the processor structure, the British company ARM authorized other chip manufacturers to manufacture it. Chip manufacturers can adjust the structure and function according to their own needs. Therefore, there are many types of ARM processors used in practice, mainly manufactured by Samsung, Philips, ATMEL, and INTEL, with different functions and uses. The ARM processor core can also be embedded in other dedicated chips as a central processing unit. For example, Philips' MP3 decoding chip uses the ARM7 core. The ARM series processors rarely integrate on-chip hardware resources and are closer to the scope of today's processors. They are basically not considered single-chip microcomputers.
