After the embedded hardware system is designed, it needs to be debugged. Whether it is hardware debugging, software debugging or program solidification, debugging simulation tools are required.

With the continuous emergence and updating of new varieties and models of processors, there are also endless embedded system debugging and simulation tools on the market. The prices of these debugging and simulation tools vary greatly due to their different functions, performances, and versatility. They range from simple JTAG debuggers of tens of yuan to high-end debugging and emulators of tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of yuan. In the past, most of these tools were imported. Now some domestic companies have also begun to develop such tools, and the cost performance is very good. However, most of the domestic ones are dedicated, and there are relatively few general-purpose ones, because there are few general-purpose applications, and they are expensive.

Here are some debugging and simulation tools I have used:
1) MDS-55-B5, a microcontroller debugging and simulation system for MCS-51, produced by Sanhuan Electronics;
2) BDI2000 (imported) for debugging PPC860, IXP425 and PPC440EP;
3) Risc Watch Debugger (imported) for debugging SB1250 (MIPS) and PPC405GP;
4) EST ICE (imported) and BDM Probe (imported) for debugging PPC860;
5) Code Cruiser plus serial port for debugging MC68K;
6) Simple JTAG debugger for debugging S3C44B0 and S3C4510. There are two types of simple JTAG debuggers for debugging S3C44B0 and S3C4510. One is a simple JTAG debugger used with SDT2.51 software, and the other is a simple JTAG debugger used with ADS1.2 (but I have never used it because the ADS1.2 I downloaded cannot be used). It is called the Wiggler cable. The simple JTAG cable burner in Chapter 10 refers to the Wiggler. The Protel99SE version schematics and PCB diagrams of these two simple JTAGs can be found on the CD that comes with this book.
