For 2.4G antenna, if cost and size are not considered, other antennas can be selected, such as patch antenna (small size, medium performance, medium cost) or external whip antenna (large size, high performance, high cost). The reference document mainly introduces PCB antenna because it has the lowest cost, medium size, and can meet most applications as long as it is properly designed.

The reference document includes three PCB antenna designs: ultra-small PIFA antenna (used for Nano Dongle, occupies the smallest PCB area, but the maximum gain is about 6dB smaller than the other two antennas, that is, the working distance is half as short); normal PIFA antenna (used for Normal Module, occupies the largest PCB area, and the maximum gain can reach 1.5dB); normal Wiggle antenna (used for more compact Normal Module, occupies a slightly smaller PCB area than the second type, and the gain is also slightly lower by 1dB. It can be used for wireless terminals with slight requirements on volume, such as wireless mice and other devices with relatively compact space).

If your design environment is similar to the environment in the reference document, basically no debugging is required. Please note that the antennas in the reference document are both double-sided FR4 boards, with the small NANO antenna board thickness of 0.6mm and the large Normal Module antenna board thickness of 1mm. If the board parameters are inconsistent with the above or the board size and the chassis environment are very different, you need to appropriately lengthen the antenna end length (such as increasing 2mm) during Layout or directly debug the L4 and C10 components for debugging the antenna to match to 50 ohms.
