May 20, 2024 - T2MIP, a global independent semiconductor IP core provider and technology expert, announced that its partners' production-proven JESD204B PHY and controller IP cores are now available. These IP cores are already in production in multiple chipsets and feature a robust and high-speed interface.
The JESD204B transmitter is a high-speed serial interface designed to provide a simplified, efficient, and scalable method for data transmission between data converters (ADCs and DACs) and microcontroller units (MCUs). The integration of JESD204B into MCUs is intended to improve the performance and reliability of communication systems in a variety of applications, including telecommunications, industrial automation, medical equipment, and automotive systems.
The JESD204B Tx interface supports data rates up to 16 Gbps per channel, significantly enhancing the throughput of MCUs. This serial interface reduces the number of physical connections required, thereby simplifying PCB design and reducing manufacturing costs. Its multi-channel configuration provides flexible system design options to meet a variety of performance requirements from basic to high-end applications. In addition, with built-in error detection and correction mechanisms, JESD204B ensures reliable data transmission and minimizes the risk of data corruption.
In the telecommunications field, MCUs supporting JESD204B can provide enhanced data throughput and reliability, which are critical for base stations and network infrastructure. In the field of industrial automation, these MCUs can improve synchronization and data integrity, which are critical for real-time control systems. In the medical field, they can achieve precise data transmission for imaging systems and diagnostic equipment, thereby improving the accuracy and efficiency of medical diagnosis. For automotive systems, MCUs supporting JESD204B can ensure stable and efficient communication for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and infotainment systems, thereby improving safety and driving experience. In addition, in consumer electronics, these MCUs provide higher performance and energy efficiency in high-speed data transmission applications, meeting the growing demand for faster and more reliable consumer devices.
Obtaining a license for the JESD204B standard not only ensures that MCU manufacturers adhere to industry-recognized protocols, but also simplifies integration efforts for system designers. Compatibility with this widely adopted standard promotes interoperability with a wide range of third-party devices, thereby increasing product versatility and compatibility. Incorporating JESD204B into MCUs marks a major advancement in high-speed data communications, enabling manufacturers to deliver high-performance, reliable, and cost-effective solutions for a wide range of embedded system applications.
