On April 24, the source @手机陶瓷达人 recently posted on Weibo that Apple is developing its own AI server chip using TSMC's 3nm process, which is expected to be mass-produced in the second half of 2025.

Note: @手机陶瓷达人 claims in his account description that he has 25 years of experience in designing integrated circuits (ICs) and previously worked on Pentium processors at Intel.

TSMC is Apple's most important partner, and most of its 3nm production capacity is currently supplied directly to Apple. Compared with the previous 5nm/7nm chips, the performance and energy efficiency of 3nm chips have been significantly improved.

Apple's commitment to developing specialized AI server processors reflects the company's strategy to continue vertically integrating its supply chain. By designing its own server chips, Apple can tailor hardware specifically to its software needs, potentially leading to more powerful and efficient technology.

Apple has begun to focus on the field of AI and continues to acquire potential AI startups. By developing its own AI server chips, it can further enhance the AI capabilities of its data centers and lay a solid foundation for future AI cloud services.
