Maxim Integrated provides designers with a micro-PLC analog output system for Industry 4.0 designs.
Beijing, China, October 9, 2014. Maxim Integrated Products, Inc. (NASDAQ: MXIM) has introduced the MAXREFDES60#, a 16-bit analog output system that helps designers implement Industry 4.0 factory automation designs with lower power consumption and meet higher-resolution distributed control requirements.
Industry 4.0 marks the transformation of factory systems from large, centralized programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to modular, distributed micro PLCs, which will effectively improve efficiency and flexibility. The MAXREFDES60# reference module consumes less than 250mW of power and can provide ultra-low power, ultra-high precision analog output for micro PLC designs in an ultra-small size (about the size of a credit card). The highly integrated MAXREFDES60# is a complete system design that includes a microcontroller and isolated power supply. Users can easily plug the MAXREFDES60# into a computer via USB, power it, and start the evaluation process in minutes.
Key Benefits
Ultra-low power consumption: High-efficiency 24V isolated power supply generates 0 to 10V output voltage, consuming only 240mW (typical)
High accuracy: 16-bit high-precision analog output, full-scale error less than 0.05%
High integration: Includes microcontroller, DAC, power supply, voltage reference and digital isolator for fast design implementation
Excellent data integrity: Data isolation architecture effectively suppresses electromagnetic interference to prevent data corruption
Comments
Suhel Dhanani, strategic marketing manager for control and automation at Maxim Integrated, said: “Customers designing new distributed control systems for Industry 4.0 require ultra-small modules with high accuracy. Designed for micro-PLC platforms, the MAXREFDES60# reference module supports the fast-growing Industry 4.0 market with its high integration and flexibility.”
Availability and Pricing
The MAXREFDES60# board is available for $39 from Maxim's website and authorized distributors. Hardware and firmware design files and test data are available online free of charge.
