[June 6, 2024, Plano, Texas] Diodes Incorporated announced the expansion of its popular DML30xx smart load switch series. Four new products were introduced: DML3008LFDS, DML3010ALFDS, DML3011ALFDS and DML3012LDC, which can achieve high current (10.5A to 15A) power domain switch control for power rails from 0.5V to 20V . Through a series of embedded functions, these devices can efficiently cope with all aspects of power supply for microcontrollers, graphics cards, ASICs, FPGAs and memory chips. These devices are ideal for meeting the power management needs of servers, computing hardware, network infrastructure, gateways, solid-state drives, laptops, tablets, industrial equipment, hot-swappable devices and peripheral ports.
This series of switches uses a chip-on-chip structure, stacking the controller chips of each device on a low RDS(ON) N-channel power MOSFET, occupying a very small area and improving power density. The large area heat sink at the bottom of the device can greatly improve the heat dissipation efficiency, reduce the operating temperature and improve reliability. Thanks to the device's on-state current of less than 150A (typical) and the standby mode current of only 0.1A (typical), power consumption can be reduced to a very low level.
This series of load switches is highly integrated in terms of functions, which greatly reduces the need for external circuits, that is, reducing the number of components, reducing PCB area, and accelerating the time to market. This series of devices provides a full range of protection and monitoring function options to maintain system reliability and greatly extend the operating time. Designers can choose the appropriate combination of functions based on product application requirements. Optional functions include short-circuit and overcurrent protection, undervoltage lockout, power good indication signal and soft start, which can limit the inrush current to an acceptable range. In addition, all four devices have a fast discharge function to ensure that the control rail is powered off and overtemperature shutdown protection.
The DML3008LFDS, DML3010ALFDS and DML3011ALFDS are available in V-DFN2020-8 (2mm x 2mm) packages and are available in 3,000-unit quantities. The DML3012LDC is available in V-DFN3030-12 (3mm x 3mm) packages and is available in 3,000-unit quantities.
