Competition will encourage community members to gain deeper insights into Omega’s Layer N wireless ecosystem
Shanghai, China, February 7, 2022 – Farnell, a global distributor of electronic components products and solutions under Avnet, launched the N-gaged Remote Monitoring Design Challenge through its online community to encourage community members to learn more about the Omega Layer N wireless ecosystem. The competition requires contestants to build and submit project designs using the Omega IoT system, and 10 finalists will be selected. Finalists will receive a free Layer N ecosystem kit to build design projects and showcase them in their blogs.
The Omega Layer N smart device ecosystem enables users to remotely monitor and manage various applications more conveniently, intelligently and flexibly. With Layer N wireless smart sensors and gateways, the system will be able to capture, store and process temperature, humidity, light and air pressure readings, and transmit them to the cloud in real time, allowing users to view reports anytime, anywhere. The element11 community members can use the Layer N ecosystem to develop various IoT applications covering predictive maintenance, roadside pollution monitoring, remote monitoring, factory management and production line management.
Dianne Kibbey, Global Head of Community and Social Media at element14, said: “The Omega Layer N ecosystem helps designers and engineers realize more innovative IoT application development. We are pleased to provide element14 community members with this opportunity to explore the Omega Layer N Gateway Kit in depth to help them innovate their designs. We are very much looking forward to seeing their innovative results soon.”
The challenge requires participants to use the Layer N kit in their project design to qualify. Finalists will receive the following component kits for free to build their design projects:
• Wireless Gateway
• Wireless temperature/humidity sensor
• USB to smart probe interface
• Intelligent temperature probe
• M12 4-pin female connector
They will then need to publish a blog post on the element14 community platform to describe their project building process and the results of the design project completed using the Layer N IoT platform and Layer N Ecosystem Kit. The winner of this challenge will win a complete security kit worth more than $500, including a Nest Doorbell, Nest Camera and Nest Hub Max, as well as multiple Nest smoke detectors. The runner-up will receive two Google Home Minis and two Next Indoor Cameras. All other participants who complete the project design using the Layer N Ecosystem as required and publish five blog posts will receive a MultiComp Pro digital multimeter kit.
The registration deadline for the N-gaged Remote Monitoring Design Challenge is February 11, and the finalists will be announced on February 18. After that, they will need to complete the design project before May 2022. The list of winners of the competition will be announced at the end of May.
