According to foreign media reports, Intel is in talks with Israeli AI chip innovation company Habana Labs, intending to acquire it and enhance its own capabilities in AI.

If the negotiations go smoothly, Intel will pay $1-2 billion, which will be Intel's second largest acquisition of an Israeli company.

In March 2017, Intel invested $15.3 billion to acquire the Israeli company Mobileye, thus opening up the field of driverless cars.

Intel also planned to acquire Israeli server and storage solution manufacturer Mellanox for US$5.5-6 billion , but was eventually snatched away by NVIDIA.

Habana Labs was founded in 2016. Its main business is to develop machine learning model training and inference chips. The company was founded by Avigdor Willenz, a well-known Israeli entrepreneur who also founded Galileo Technologies and Annapurna Labs.

In response to this news, Intel said it would not comment on market rumors, while Habana Labs declined to respond.
