On November 30, market research firm IC Insights recently released a briefing predicting the rankings of the top 15 semiconductor suppliers in 2020, with Intel, Samsung, and TSMC ranking in the top three.

Among the top 15 semiconductor suppliers in the world in 2020, 8 are headquartered in the United States, 2 are headquartered in South Korea, Taiwan, China, and Europe, and 1 is headquartered in Japan. No companies from mainland China are on the list.

It is worth mentioning that IC Insights previously released the sales ranking of the world's top ten semiconductor manufacturers in the first half of 2020, with HiSilicon ranking 10th. Now, HiSilicon has fallen out of the TOP15.

Thanks to the hot sales of 5G chips, MediaTek's revenue increased by 35% year-on-year, rising from 16th to 11th place, and is close to occupying the position that HiSilicon once held.

Despite the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, which caused a severe global recession in 2020, the semiconductor industry has achieved counter-cyclical growth. IC Insights expects that sales of the top 15 semiconductor companies in 2020 will increase by 13% over 2019, slightly more than double the expected total growth of 6% for the global semiconductor industry.
