Rohde & Schwarz launches first 1000BASE-T1 automotive Ethernet trigger and decode solution
In addition to safety issues, managing increasingly complex electronic systems and adhering to industry standards (such as in-vehicle Ethernet) also bring other requirements to automotive electronics testing to realize the vision of future autonomous driving. Without innovative automotive electronics testing solutions that support the transition from road testing to bench testing to achieve test reproducibility and automation, it will be difficult to meet such challenges.
With the new K58 option for the R&S®RTO and R&S®RTP oscilloscopes, Rohde & Schwarz (hereinafter referred to as "R&S") has launched the world's first trigger and decode solution for 1000BASE-T1, helping OEMs and Tier1 suppliers to now analyze and decode the latest bus speeds in cutting-edge automotive digital designs.
The flexibility of automotive Ethernet makes simple twisted-pair network technology an ideal choice for the growing scale of in-vehicle networks. The new R&S K58 option provides a fast and effective way to verify, debug and troubleshoot the design of automotive Ethernet communication links.
Data debugging and decoding
With this option, users can debug and verify their in-vehicle networks and ECU deployments. The decoded data can be displayed in a table or in a normal cellular diagram. Important parameters such as Idle, MAC or error frames can be easily identified by defined color codes. Using the R&S®RT-ZF7 probing fixture, forward and reverse data flows can be decoded simultaneously. In addition, the oscilloscope can decode up to 4 serial buses simultaneously.
Data search and viewing
Comprehensive search functions simplify the analysis of long signal sequences. Specific message types, contents and errors can be quickly isolated. All detected events are displayed in a table with time stamps. This allows the user to zoom in on individual events and switch between them.
Troubleshooting
Combining the new trigger and decode capabilities with the unique K35 bus measurement option allows in-depth measurements such as frame error rate and number of consecutive error frames, which helps to quickly determine the stability of the link. More bus timing analysis can also be performed, such as inter-frame delay or the delay between any trigger event and the subsequent bus frame. Error rate and frame timing are measured simultaneously, which is very important for automotive applications such as autonomous driving.
R&S oscilloscopes decode protocol-specific trigger results for fast and reliable debugging. Unique features that combine bus measurements and statistics allow you to understand bus load capacity, frame error rate and latency issues. This speeds up the development process and gives engineers confidence in the performance reliability of their products, without the need for additional instruments.
