This patent makes the super car no longer just a concept
According to foreign media reports, Faraday Future has obtained its first US patent for developing a smaller and more powerful inverter. Therefore, the company's products are no longer as sexy as the concept car premiered at CES 2016, but more practical.
First of all, this patented invention is a real device and will be an important part of Faraday Future's car. At the same time, FF is betting on its VPA platform system to customize its cars.
As for this patented inverter, Silva Hiti, senior director of FF Electric Drive, explained: "It converts battery energy into a form that can be consumed by the electric motor." In other words, the DC current stored in the battery can be converted into AC power and output to the motor after entering the inverter.
FF cascade inverters are more reliable and easier to manufacture than current inverters, meaning lower failure rates and less material consumption.
Smaller and simpler means higher efficiency because it can maximize energy conversion. "If you put 100 watts in, you get nearly 100 watts out," said Steven Schultz, a technical researcher at FF.
Previously, due to indefinite production delays, the outside world speculated that Faraday Future was just a concept car manufacturer. Coupled with the loss of many important technical talents some time ago, the outside world even questioned: Faraday Future could not build a car called the "Tesla killer" at all, and it didn't even have a working car.
FF spokesman Wheeler said: "This new patent went through nearly 100 failures before it was born. Our plan is to keep it confidential before the product is officially launched, and now you will see more news from Faraday Future. This is just the beginning."
