Let renewable energy no longer be far away
To achieve a sustainable global environment, technology can do many things. This includes the use of ESS (energy storage systems) to achieve stable power supply. In recent years, the scope of use of ESS based on lithium batteries has been continuously expanded, not only achieving more efficient charging and discharging, but also being able to flexibly change the capacity according to different uses (such as household equipment).
As the world becomes more concerned about a zero-carbon society, more and more households are choosing renewable energy sources, including solar power. Therefore, power storage systems that can efficiently utilize the generated energy are attracting increasing attention.

Contribute to carbon neutrality
In order to ensure a stable power supply, "power generation" and "power consumption" must be equal. However, natural energy sources such as solar energy and wind energy have the problem of difficulty in controlling the amount of power generated. To overcome this instability and make greater use of renewable energy, energy storage systems (ESS: Energy Storage System) are indispensable.
ESS is a system that combines large storage batteries with power control, and TDK is working hard to develop lithium-ion batteries for ESS. In addition to high-capacity, high-performance lithium-ion battery packs, TDK's unique battery management system (BMS) also features long service life and high safety. In the future, these ESSs can be installed in various places such as homes, factories, and shops, and can provide power even when disasters occur, and are expected to become a lifeline to support people's lives.
TDK strives to contribute to improving energy self-sufficiency and achieving carbon neutrality using the technologies it has accumulated so far.
Through technological development,
Efficient use of energy to achieve a zero-carbon society
Countries around the world are planning to achieve carbon neutrality goals by 2050 and convert the energy used from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources such as solar energy, wind energy, hydropower, and biomass energy. This is also an important challenge for human society to achieve sustainable development. Advanced power electronics technology is gradually being applied to various stages of power generation, storage, transmission, conversion, application and sharing.
Power storage technology can supply excess power stored when power demand is low during periods of peak power demand to reduce or shift peak power consumption, which is crucial for the application of renewable resources and mitigating global resource progress. The research and development of large-capacity rechargeable batteries (such as lithium-ion batteries) and various energy storage systems such as flywheels and superconductors are continuing to make progress.
