Tsinghua Unigroup's RDA launches the industry's most integrated NB-IoT & GSM dual-mode single chip RDA8909
On December 4, 2017, as China's leading RF and mixed signal chip supplier, Tsinghua Unigroup's RDA Microelectronics (hereinafter referred to as "RDA") announced today the launch of the industry's highest integrated NB-IoT dual-mode single-chip solution RDA8909 .
RDA8909 supports NB-IoT and GSM/GPRS network modes, supports 3GPP-R14 standard, and can be widely used in various large-scale IoT applications such as wearable devices, smart homes, smart cities, smart industry and agriculture. RDA8909 brings a breakthrough product to the global IoT market with excellent performance, ultra-low power consumption, highest integration and most competitive cost.

The RDA8909 chip integrates a radio frequency transceiver, a power manager, a modem, an analog baseband, a Flash memory, a pSRAM memory, etc. It also has a version with a built-in ESIM, which greatly reduces the difficulty and cost of terminal design for customers.
In terms of network standards, RDA8909 supports NB-IoT and GSM/GPRS modes , including dual standby single pass and single standby single pass. The chip supports ultra-wide frequency bands , including band 1/2/3/4/5/8/12/13/17 /18/19/20/25/26/28/31/66/70/71 and 470-520MHz private network bands, which can be applied to the global market.
In terms of communication capabilities, the NB-IoT part supports the 3GPP-R14 standard , especially for ultra-high-speed mobility, the laboratory simulation measurement reaches 300 kilometers per hour, which fundamentally solves the lack of mobility of the NB-IoT chip. At the same time, the excellent demodulation performance of RDA8909 makes its actual test results in static state, low-speed mobile state, and high-speed mobile state significantly higher than similar products.
In terms of power consumption, the NB-IoT part has ultra-low power consumption , with PSM power consumption less than 5uA and standby power consumption less than 1mA.
In addition to WAN connectivity, RDA8909 also integrates 802.11b RX and BT4.2/BLE functions, which can achieve indoor positioning and short-distance connection . In addition, the rich peripheral interfaces can greatly improve the scalability of the system.
"The launch of RDA8909 not only reflects RDA's rich technical accumulation and continuous technological innovation in IoT chips, but also reflects RDA's accurate grasp of customer needs and market environment," said Zeng Xuezhong, chairman of RDA. "Next, RDA will launch NB-IoT chips with built-in GPS, which, combined with RDA's low-voltage PA, can greatly broaden the market application of NB-IoT. RDA will always maintain close cooperation with customers and operators to continuously improve the cost-effectiveness and competitiveness of its products."
