Keysight Technologies' O-RAN end-to-end solution portfolio accelerates innovation and enhances network performance and reliability for multi-vendor 5G networks

Beijing, February 2, 2021 - Keysight Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: KEYS), a leading technology company that helps enterprises, service providers and governments accelerate innovation to connect and secure the world, today announced the launch of an end-to-end solution that enables open radio access network (O-RAN) vendors and the mobile operator ecosystem to validate the interoperability, performance, conformance and security of multi-vendor 5G networks based on O-RAN standard interfaces.

Many mobile operators are deploying native cloud and virtualized radio access network (RAN) architectures based on the specifications set by the O-RAN Alliance to efficiently deliver 5G services. With the transition to multi-vendor networks, interoperability and performance have encountered huge challenges. End-to-end testing, including testing from the RAN edge to the 5G core network (5GC) and full-process testing from early chip pre-development to system integration, can ensure that performance requirements are met. By fully testing heterogeneous networks, vendors can extend the functionality of their designs and mobile operators can deliver solutions that support innovative services.

"Radio unit (O-RU), distributed unit (O-DU), central unit (O-CU) and RAN intelligent controller (RIC) vendors need an all-in-one, virtualized, cloud - native solution to perform performance validation to enable interoperability between network elements and ensure compliance with the latest O-RAN and 3GPP specifications," said Giampaolo Tardioli, vice president and general manager of Keysight's Network Access business unit. "Keysight's end-to-end O-RAN solutions enable the ecosystem to validate network elements at every layer of the protocol stack, ensuring that subsystems operate as expected and around central objectives."

Keysight Technologies' Open Radio Access Architecture Suite (KORA) provides an all-in-one solution to accelerate the development, integration and deployment of O-RAN compliant equipment. The suite is tailored specifically for the supply chain workflow consisting of chipset manufacturers, network equipment manufacturers (NEMs), mobile operators and open test and integration centers (OTICs). Users can uniquely access a set of common solutions and easily share work results throughout the workflow from chip pre-development to cloud deployment.

Keysight Technologies joined the O-RAN Alliance soon after its inception. Through early collaboration with key industry stakeholders, Keysight Technologies has accumulated rich and deep expertise in the O-RAN standard field. As the author of the O-RAN fronthaul conformance test specification in the O-RAN Alliance, Keysight Technologies has made continuous contributions to the development of O-RAN standards, enabling the industry to verify whether O-RU and O-DU comply with O-RAN specifications using approved O-RAN test cases. Keysight Technologies serves as the liaison to the O-RAN Alliance Security Task Force, actively promoting the industry's efforts to address security issues in open RAN.
