In May this year, Haier won an order of 420,000 tablet computers from the Ministry of Education of Thailand. The tablet computers used Rockchip RK3066 dual-core chips. This education order was very large and both parties attached great importance to it. The Thai order had many requirements for customization, and Rockchip also sent many technical personnel to work with Haier to complete this order.

Last year, Rockchip's customer Hikop won the first batch of 800K education tablet purchase orders from Thailand, using Rockchip's single-core chip RK2918. The supply was smooth later. When the Thai side considered upgrading from a single-core to a dual-core tablet, it naturally had a great advantage in cooperation with Rockchip's tablet. In recent years, Rockchip has accumulated rich experience in education tablets and has a strong degree of cooperation in differentiated customization of education tablet software, such as:

1. Educational bids have more comprehensive requirements for video formats. Many courseware must be in FLASH format. If the chip performance does not meet the requirements, or there are some problems in software development, phenomena such as a black screen will occur, or it will not be supported.

2. A network filtering function has been added to student tablets to protect underage computer users and prohibit access to pornographic, violent websites and other harmful content.

3. The tablet has added GPS positioning function, which can locate the specific location.

4. Regarding future upgrades, such as adding special customized functions such as same-screen interaction and anti-loss functions to the tablet, the support of chip manufacturers to partners is also very important. The speed of future upgrades is also a significant advantage of Rockchip compared to its peers.

5. Delivery after winning the bid is the key! Winning the bid is just a prelude, it only means that you are qualified to produce. The supply after winning the bid is the embodiment of the strength of the bidder. Looking at the bids of various countries, many companies are unable to smoothly meet the supply needs of the other party due to soft and hard resources and unexpected factors after winning the bid, resulting in endless delays in the later cooperation, which greatly damages the reputation of the future bidding qualification.

2. Promote the flagship product RK3288

At the Hong Kong Electronics Fair in April, Rockchip released the new ARM Cortex-A17 core architecture RK3288 chip, which is Rockchip's most powerful processor so far. It has high running scores, strong GPU performance, can support 4K ultra-high definition, and hard-decode H.265. Its overall performance is second to none in China and it is also Rockchip's main flagship product.

This chip has been adopted by many tablet brands, such as Teclast, Yuandao, Chuwi, Pipo, Five Elements, etc. In addition, TV boxes using RK3288 have also appeared on the market.

3. Pay attention to 3G/4G tablets and mobile phones

MediaTek has been growing rapidly since last year. MTK shipped 20 million chips last year and is expected to ship 40 million this year. The entry of MTK has disrupted the original market structure in Shenzhen. The original competition between Allwinner and Rockchip has evolved into a three-way competition this year. In addition, the proportion of tablets with calls and communications is increasing, and MTK's 3G advantage is exactly what Rockchip did not have before. Fortunately, Rockchip has obtained 3G baseband technology license from Intel, which makes up for this shortcoming.
