From Google Glass to advanced fitness activity trackers, head-mounted imaging displays, and blood pressure monitors, wearable devices have entered the military, industrial, and high-end consumer electronics markets. These devices are rapidly improving and becoming smarter. In such battery-powered devices, low current consumption of ICs is critical to extend the operating time of the device.

The MAX17220 evaluation kit (EV kit) is an ultra-low quiescent current step-up DC-DC converter. With up to 95% energy efficiency, it minimizes heat loss and achieves ultra-low quiescent current, which can help extend battery life in highly integrated wearables, health monitors, Internet of Things (IoT) devices, and other connected designs.

This time, Maxim will cooperate with China Electronics Port to randomly select 20 registered partners and give each partner a MAX17220 evaluation board.

Evaluation Kit for the MAX17220 / MAX17221 / MAX17222 / MAX17223 / MAX17224 / MAX17225


The MAX17220 EV kit evaluates the MAX17220–MAX17225 IC family of ultra-low quiescent current step-up DC-DC converters. The MAX17220 EV kit features two separate circuits that can be used to evaluate the MAX17220–MAX17225 family of ICs in different packages. Both circuits on the EV kit have an input range of 400mV to 5.5V, depending on the load, and a typical startup voltage of 0.88V with a 3kΩ load. Each circuit provides a resistor-configurable output voltage from 1.8V to 5V in 100mV steps.


The EV kit comes with the MAX17220ELT+ and MAX17220ENT+ installed.
