New Product Release | Renesas Launches New RX261/RX260 MCU Product Group with Superior Energy Efficiency, Advanced Touch Functionality, and Powerful Security Features
New MCUs are ideal for a wide range of applications including home appliances and building automation
Renesas Electronics (TSE: 6723), a global supplier of semiconductor solutions, announced the launch of the RX261 and RX260 microcontroller (MCU) product groups. These two new 64MHz MCUs offer excellent energy efficiency - only 69μA/MHz in active mode and 1μA in standby mode. In addition, they can help designers easily implement waterproof capacitive touch sensor designs and provide powerful security features. Thanks to the perfect combination of excellent performance and functionality, the RX261/RX260 product group is suitable for applications such as home appliances, building and factory automation, as well as many application scenarios such as smart locks, electric bicycles and mobile thermal printers.
The RX261/RX260 product group is based on Renesas' RXv3 CPU core and can achieve a score of 355CoreMark at 64MHz. This score is 2.5 times higher than other 64MHz-class MCUs of the same type. Compared with other 64MHz-class MCUs, the RX261/RX260 has a 25% reduction in operating current and an 87% reduction in standby current. With its excellent energy efficiency ratio, it can minimize current consumption during intermittent operation. These low-power features not only help customers meet the stringent energy efficiency regulations for home appliances, but also extend the operating time of battery-powered applications.
Renesas' third-generation capacitive touch IP (CTSU2SL) has high noise immunity and waterproof characteristics, allowing users to implement touch sensors in kitchen appliances and outdoor devices such as smart door locks. It supports automatic judgment function, which can detect touch even when the MCU is in standby state, thereby reducing current consumption during intermittent operation.
