ADI and Marvell announce collaboration to develop highly integrated 5G RF solutions
On February 26, 2020, Marvell and ADI announced a technical collaboration to provide fully optimized solutions for 5G base stations using Marvell's advanced 5G digital platform and ADI's outstanding broadband RF transceiver technology. During the collaboration, the two companies will provide fully integrated 5G digital front-end (DFE) ASIC solutions and closely coordinated RF transceivers, and will work together to develop next-generation radio unit (RU) solutions, including optimized baseband and RF technologies that can support a diverse set of functional splits and architectures.

Massive MIMO deployment and millimeter wave spectrum requirements increase the complexity of 5G RUs, bringing unprecedented challenges to RF and radio network design. Meeting the low power, small size, and low cost requirements of 5G requires optimizing the partitioning between RF and mixed signal technologies and digital ASICs and baseband chips. The combination of Marvell and ADI's advanced technologies enables highly optimized RU designs that support both standard and custom implementations.
