Electromagnetic guided wave detection technology is widely used in damage detection of various types of metal pipelines due to its non-contact coupling characteristics. However, the low excitation efficiency leads to a limited range of electromagnetic guided wave signal energy transfer, which restricts its application in long pipelines and pipelines with complex structures. In order to improve the efficiency of electromagnetic guided wave transduction, this paper abandons the excitation source structure of a pulse generator and a power amplifier, and proposes a pulse excitation method based on the energy compression principle. The energy stored in the capacitor is compressed in space and time to increase the intensity of the excitation signal, and the selection rules of the pulse forming loop parameters are determined. Experiments have shown that this method can effectively increase the amplitude of the electromagnetic guided wave excitation signal.
