Q&A

1. What is the biggest advantage of MSP430FR6047 compared with other MSP430 series products?

A: FR6047 is a newly launched product with integrated ultrasonic detection module. It is mainly used in ultrasonic water meter, heat meter and other meter applications.

2.What is the difference between the msp430fr series and the msp430f series?

A: fr stands for ferroelectric fram series, and f stands for flash.

3. How to calibrate the accuracy of the MSP430FR6047 water meter?

A: The common method is to weigh the water and perform flow calibration.

4. If MSP430 FR6047 is used in outdoor wireless sensors, are there any users who have used wireless download to upgrade the HEX program?

A: Wireless upgrade actually has little to do with the specific MSP430 used. Basically, all of them can be implemented. The TI official website has reference routines for MSP430 wireless upgrade.

5. Which hardware resources of FR4067 are mainly used in this solution? Are other series of 430, such as F4xx or F6xx, applicable?

A: FR6047 has an integrated ultrasonic detection module, but other series do not.

6.What are the major differences between FR6047 and F5529, which is more commonly used by students?

A: FR6047 has an integrated ultrasonic detection module.

7. What is the driving peripheral circuit like?

A: There is basically no peripheral circuit, the analog front end has been integrated into the chip.

8. For the solution provided by TI, is there a transducer manufacturer for selection?

A: Currently the demo uses Guangzhou Audiway, but other manufacturers can also be used, just do a calibration.

9.What is the lowest power consumption that can be achieved?

A: 3uA average power consumption.

10.Can the gas flow be detected?

A: FR6047 cannot, but new chips on the same platform will support it, and will probably be mass-produced in the second quarter of next year.

11.Where are ultrasonic flow meters mainly used?

A: Water meter, heat meter, gas meter and other meter applications.

12. Will there be a certain error for hot water?

A: Hot water requires the addition of a temperature sensor for compensation.

13.What is the accuracy of the ADC used in this chip and what kind of ADC architecture does it use?

A: Sigma Delta High Speed ADC, 12-bit.

14.What is the sampling frequency for high-speed AD?

A: 8MSPS.

15. Reference design for schematic pcb?

A: http://www.ti.com/tool/ EVM430-FR6047 ?keyMatch=fr6047&tisearch=Search-EN-Everything

16.What is the difference between mono and multi-channel in ultrasonic flow meters?

A: The more channels there are, the higher the test accuracy will be, and compensation can be done.

17. Does TI have a solution for transducers? Do companies need to customize them themselves or purchase them from a third party?

A: You can purchase ready-made transducers, or you can customize them. This requires comprehensive consideration of multiple factors such as the actual pipe diameter.

18. Is the integrated module in MSP430?

A: Yes.

19. Can the configuration be completed directly without the need for an external driver chip?

A: Yes, directly to the transducer.

20. What is the power consumption of the chip? Is it a low-power chip? If it is not a low-power product, it will definitely limit the use scenarios.

A: 3uA average power consumption.

21. In northern cities, there are insulation materials and insulation layers on the outside of the hot water pipes. Will this affect the ultrasonic signal? For example, will the metal shell reflect the measurement signal and cause interference?

A: The transducer itself is a metal pipe, so it doesn’t matter what material is added on the outside.

22. Can it measure gases? Or only liquids?

A: It can measure gas, but the current chip is not capable of doing so. A single chip in the same series that supports gas detection will be launched soon.

23. What is the measurement range of flow rate? The solution is for low flow rate, can it be measured if the flow rate is high?

A: The solution supports low flow rates, but also supports high flow rates. We are still testing the specific upper limit of ultra-high flow rates.

24. In the new MSP430FR6047 MCU series, is the ADC built-in or does it require an external ADC chip?

A: Built-in.

25. The SDHS in the block diagram can only be used by USS, right?

A: Yes.
